We hope by now you have heard about the latest round of success in the world of the Clay Salon?!  Nominated for no less than 3…. yes, THREE(!) categories at the Hairdressers Journal British Hairdressing Business Awards 2011!

Pictured here with a congratulatory bottle of bubbles, our front of house legend Josey-Jo was nominated for the Best Front-of-House award.  With the odds stacked against any entry, we think it is truly amazing (and totally realistic ;)) that Josey has come this far.  I think we hold the same mindset as our many loyal clients in thinking that she can go all the way! As promised, this is a sum-up of the Hairdressers Journal’s British Hairdressing Business Awards through Clay eyes.

Well it can’t get better than this… until next year of course!

The Clay Salon came up trumps taking home the award for Newcomer of the Year.  Check out the Clay team in action and don’t they just deserve it.  It was such a pleasure putting this video together and seeing how much the whole team really love their jobs …how this big ‘family’ didn’t win Team of the year I’ll never know!

Watch this space because believe you, me, the successes are set to continue…

Well, in case you didn’t know what I look like… here it is.  While supporting the Clay team at the Hairdressers Journal BHBA’s, I got blogged about!  It’s not everyday a blogger gets beaten at his own game!!

In the mean time, do take a moment to check out the HJi website.  Not to mention Matthew Batham’s awesome blog.  Matthew is a personal friend of the Clay team, so just click my grin and curls above to take you there…

Have fun!  Jay.  x

Little nipper Joe Broome lift’s the hairdressing World Cup…

Joe is a massive Torres fan so we gave him the ultimate Torres haircut..  he’s been coming to Clay since the first years with business-coach dad - Simon Broome - and what a team they make!

Great to see them getting involved!

As a the official Clay blogger, it is my duty to report all the goings-on at Clay.  If you are a keen follower of the Clay Blog (which I hope you are), you will have come to the conclusion that these BHBA’s were kind of a big deal - for the Clay team, the Salon Director and well, frankly, the entire UK hairdressing industry.  With this in mind, I would be far from living up to the expectations and standards I set if I did not convey the message properly.

So, here’s to a Clay Salon and BHBA social media storm!  Retweet, Reblog, Like us, Subscribe to us, or even Add us as a friend… we are here, and we are here to stay.

I look forward to socialising with you soon!

I think you’ll agree that anything I say now can hardly compete with James’ interview half way through this video.  The night was absolutely wonderful on all accounts.  The turnout was incredible, combined with such an electric atmosphere, I can’t imagine a single attendee went home without an ear-to-ear smile on their face!

The Hairdressers Journal must also be applauded for putting together such a terrific event… so great, even the lady of the house herself - Ms Jayne Lewis-Orr - was dancing the night away!  Keep your ear to the ground on this one; the next 12 months is going to be seriously interesting and believe you me, Clay WILL be back for more next year…!

p.s. Great video guys!!

THE LOWDOWN …through sealed lips (sshhhhh)

To say that a lot has been happening at the Clay Salon and Spa recently would be… well, a bit like calling the Mad Hatter slightly ‘distinct’ in character; or maybe saying that King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz of KSA has moderate wealth; even better, consider Stephen Hawking as ‘excelling in his year-group’?  -You catch my drift.

Anyway, although sworn to secrecy, I owe it to all you fine supporters of the Clay ‘tree’ to let you in on at least some of the secrets I have been subject to in the last couple of weeks:

The Clay product range is moving forward, FAST.  Set to launch well before the end of the year, the final product formula complete with secret ingredient has been given the go!  I was at a meeting a few days ago with a bottle manufacturer for the redesigned product… JD could barely hold in his enthusiasm; so excited he was to see these shapes popping of the production line - I bet he was imagining the real deal!  Keep your eyes peeled for a preview video in the coming weeks.

We have all by now heard about the very exciting news of Clay and a certain invitation to the Hairdressers Journal (HJ) BHB Awards this September? - No secret there!  But, with a letter of congratulations coming directly from HJ’s own Editor-in-Chief Jayne Lewis-Orr almost a month ago, we honestly thought that was it…  Until, low and behold Jayne turns up on the Clay Salon door-step with her lovely twins in tow, ready for the full Clay Experience!

With the boys sat down and each tucking into a Clay Hot-Chocolate supreme - marshmallows included, we learned that Jayne was here on her own accord… not because of any judging process; but because she had heard London rumors of a great salon.  Can you believe it!!?!  This is the Publisher of the only weekly UK based magazine dedicated to the hairdressing industry; their opinions MATTER!  Jayne was very kind in her compliments and gave us loads of encouragement.  She and the boys were a delight and Team Clay are all really looking forward to seeing her again on the Awards night - Especially as Jayne herself will be presenting them!  ;-)

I have to leave it there; if I say anymore, I’ll be expecting a sinister knock at my door… Ces’t la vie!

We’ll catch up soon I’m sure,

Jay.  x
